Dr. Jung-Gi Im is working at the Hanyang University in Korea as Distinguished Honorary Professor. Prof. Im graduated from Seoul National University Medical College in 1975, and received his M.D. from the Seoul National University in 1983. He served as associate director of Seoul National University Hospital from 2004 to 2008, as the Dean of Seoul National University Medical College from 2008 to 2011, and as the Executive Vice President of Research Affairs and Planning (2011-2014).  

Prof. Im has been engaged in the clinical, teaching and scientific research of thoracic imaging for a long time, and has achieved fruitful results. He is an internationally famous expert in thoracic imaging who has been invited to give lectures in dozens of countries in Asia, America and Europe. It is particularly well known that he is the first researcher in the world who put forward the "tree-in-bud sign" and the "angiogram sign". 209 papers of him have been collected in PubMed, with a total of nearly 4000 citations. He founded the Korean Thoracic Radiology Society in 1988 and served as the first president of it. In 2006, he proposed and founded the Asian Thoracic Radiology Society and served as chairman of the first Asian Thoracic Radiology Congress. He served as vice chairman of the first and the second World Thoracic Radiology Congress in 2005 and 2009and chairman of the third World Thoracic Radiology Congress in 2013. He is a senior member of the Fleischner Society and honorary member of RSNA in 2015. He founded KJR (the Korean Journal of Radiology) in 2000 and served as the first editor of it. And he served as vice chief editor of the Journal of Thoracic Imaging from 1997 to 2011. He recieved Lifetime Achievement Award from Korean Society of Thoracic Radiology in 2005, and the first Lifetime Achievement Award of the Asian Society of Thoracic Radiology in 2019.

Prof. Im is not only a leader in thoracic radiology in South Korea, but also committed to promoting the development and cooperation of thoracic radiology in Asian countries. Since Prof. Im gave the first lecture in China in 1995, he has developed a deep affection for China, and have come to China more than 10 times for giving lectures and (including Hong Kong and Taiwan Province), which promoted the communication between Chinese thoracic radiology experts and their Asian counterparts.

任教授是韩国汉阳大学杰出荣誉教授。任教授1975年毕业于韩国首尔大学医学院，1983年获得首尔大学医学博士学位, 2004-2008年任韩国首尔大学医院副院长，2008-2011年任韩国首尔大学医学院院长，2011-2014任韩国首尔大学研究事务与计划常务副校长。

任教授长期从事胸部影像学的临床、教学和科研工作，并结出丰硕成果，是国际著名的胸部影像专家，应邀在亚洲、美洲和欧洲等十多个国家讲学，尤为大家熟知的是在国际上首次提出“树芽征”和“血管造影征”。他在PubMed共收录论文209篇，总引用次数近4000次。他于1988年创立了韩国胸部放射学会并担任首届会长，2006年提议并创立了亚洲胸部放射学会并担任首届亚洲胸部放射大会主席，分别于2005年和2009年任世界胸部放射大会第一届和第二届副主席，于2013年任第三届世界胸部放射大会主席。他是Fleischner学会资深成员，2015年获RSNA荣誉会员。他2000年创刊KJR (the Korean Journal of Radiology)并首任主编，1997-2011年任《胸部影像学杂志》副主编。他2005年获韩国胸部放射学学会终身成就奖，2019获亚洲胸部放射学会首位终身成就奖。

任廷基教授不仅是韩国胸部放射学的领袖，同时致力于推动亚洲各个国家在胸部放射学上的发展和合作。1995年任教授首次到中国讲学，对中国产生深厚感情，先后十多次到中国（包括香港和台湾省）讲学，促进了中国胸部放射专家和亚洲同行的交流。
